This N That

Just got back from a walk with Riley and noticed that the daffodils have begun to break out from their nap. No actual flowers but the plants seemingly burst out over night. This makes me quite happy.

I spent part of the weekend cleaning the apartment. One room a day got a thorough scrubbing. Furniture moved, floors swept and mopped, appliances wiped down. My bedroom was particularly grubby. I suppose because it's pretty much a no man's land, meaning no man has been in there in well over a year.

Haven't heard anything regarding the two good interviews I had last week, but I wasn't expecting to until at least today. I'm waiting on a phone call from some recruiter I sent my info to that contacted me this morning. I swear, if it's for a management job at that damn Bubba Gump's again I may hurt someone. They've already contacted me twice and then turned me down both times. I don't want to be one of 83 managers it seems to take to run a restaurant, and I don't want to sell your damn scrimps.

Of course, since I have no sex, no life, and no sex life, I watched Dancing With The Stars as they kicked off a new season last night. My reactions:

Poor Woz.

And say goodbye to the rodeo cowboy. While a case could be made that the "Teletubby gone mad" was equally inept, the legions of Mac Heads will save their god at least for the first week, meaning Ty Murray will be the first to go. And Li'l Kim giving a shout out to the friends she made in prison was classic.

Dog Friday

Don't people usually post pics of their aminals on Friday? Or is that Monday? Anyway, here's my pooter and his ginormous tongue from September and another shot from last weekend's snowstorm. There is a huge basketball court across the street from my apartment and we go there to play sometimes.

Teenage Trannie Muggers

How's that for a title? You know the economy is rough when packs of transvestite youth are forced to knock down and mug "white bitches" for wig money.

"It was Destiny that told me to rob the white bitch." is now officially my catch-all excuse for anything I get caught doing wrong.

In other news ...

I had two really great job interviews yesterday and this afternoon. I will be really shocked if one or both of them doesn't result in a job offer.

American Idol - Adam Lambert Is Gay As A Picnic!

Just want to get this down before the show airs. My prediction for tonight:

Lil Rounds- Done deal.
Jorge Nunez- When he cried at the end of his number, I almost called. Well played, my friend. But please, I need to whisper two words to you ... eyebrow threading. For the love of god.

(And this has nothing to do with my well-documented partiality to Black girls and Puerto Rican men)

Wild Card:
Scott The Blind Guy- Will make America feel good about themselves.

More later ...

(later)

Ha! SUCK IT, JESUS! What did I tell you?
So, needless to say I've gotten a little invested in this season of Idol. I really, really need to get a job. I'm sure you have seen the pictures rocketing around the interwebs of Idol contestant Adam Lambert. As it turns out, he couldn't be gayer if his name was Gay Gayerson. That's not a criticism. I'm excited that he seems like a total freak.

If the published photo's don't show it, perhaps this You Tube video of Missy Lambert going all Freddy Mercury at The Avalon in Los Angeles will illustrate the point.

At first I was thinking that Adam would be hiding his extreme gayosity under a bushel until he got further in the competition, but now I'm afeerd he will stick with this Emo/Goth drag he's got going on (and is almost too old to pull off) and try to play it "straight" (AS IF!). Pointless if you ask me, as his Gay-O-Vac battery is fully charged and simply should not be contained.

And while I wanted to predict that we had seen the last of young headband horror, drive-by piercing victim (below the lip? really?) Nathaniel before tonight's show, every time he appeared on camera the same phrase kept popping in to my head: Dirty Little Pig Bottom. I don't necessarily think we've seen the last of him. I think there's at least one video yet to surface with dirty little Nate tied up, shaved and getting peed on. Or there soon will be.

More On Sen. ( I Hope You Get AIDS) Schultheis

Since the Rocky Mountain News is about to fold I thought I would post this YouTube clip from Keith Olbermann's show naming Senator Suckbag as runner-up to the worst person in the world. Just on the odd chance that someone would come along and not believe that an American elected representative could be so utterly heinous in the year 2009.

Also, here's a copy of what I sent to Sen. Shithead last night. Not particularly eloquent but it made me feel better:]

Dear Senator,
I read with dismay the comments attributed to you regarding the debate over voting for a bill requiring HIV testing for Colorado pregnant women. Here is my published response:

(Blog post below)

May I also add, Senator, that I am appalled that you would go on the record as advocating that American children, who I presume are born innocent in God's eyes if not yours, be consigned to a life of HIV and AIDS just to satisfy and justify some moral retribution that you believe should be heaped upon it's mother. Shame on you! I pray you will never have to look back on this hate-filled, mean-spirited attempt at "moral legislation" when you one day have to deal with some sort of "punishment from God" that will surely befall someone you love. But I doubt you will ever be intelligent or sensitive enough to appreciate that irony.
If I wasn't so sure you were just a complete and total misguided, pitiful and stupid idiot, I would be considerably more angry than I am.
Sincerely,
Tom T######

Fucking Lovely

The Colorado legislature is discussing a bill that would require pregnant women in the state to be tested for HIV. They would then be referred for treatment that would all but prevent them from passing the infection on to their babies. Republican Senator Dave Schultheis is opposed to the bill, and offered up this by way of explanation:

"What I'm hoping is that yes, that person may have AIDS, have it seriously as a baby and when they grow up, but the mother will begin to feel guilt as a result of that. The family will see the negative consequences of that promiscuity and it may make a number of people over the coming years ... begin to realize that there are negative consequences and maybe they should adjust their behavior."

Now mind you, this piece of shit is also on the record as being anti-abortion (pro life). Meaning the life of an unborn fetus is precious and needs to be protected, (presumably) providing it is the right fetus, belonging to a "good" person, that displays "acceptable" behavior.

But beyond all that, what "Christian" advocates that the result of any "choices" or "unacceptable behavior" (to whom?) would be that an innocent baby be born and consigned to a life of HIV infection, or worse, full-blown AIDS as a punishment to the mother?

Fortunately, this hateful clown cast the only "no" vote and the measure passed 32-1, and now moves on to the Colorado House.

You can also follow the link to the article (via the soon to be closed Rocky Mountain News) and scroll down to the comments section, where the majority of citizens of Colorado are rightfully appalled by his statements.

Great News!

Half of the deaths in people with HIV now are from causes other than AIDS, according to a study presented at the 16th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI) in Montreal. Non-AIDS-related cancers and cardiovascular disease are a growing cause of death particularly in older people with HIV. - via POZ magazine on-line.

As I have said before, it seems I can expect to die from my family's rich and proud tradition of cardiovascular disease, just as it was meant to be. And if I don't get my cholesterol numbers down that could be sooner than I may want.

Had a job interview yesterday and another today and at least one more later this week. That's encouraging. I guess.

Yoicks! I Almost Forgot!

Today is my birthday.

As I hurtle ever-faster and inexorably towards my (hopefully) sudden and untimely death, I plan on celebrating the day by using $10 to buy myself something on sale at Old Navy, $10 to go to KMart and stock up Riley's canned dog food for the week and $5 to break my diet (four lbs!) and buy and eat an entire pint of Ben & Jerry's Mint Chocolate Chunk ice cream.

Party! woo .... hoo.
